push'n cushions
They are made by the lovely Sasha White. "The cushions are made using a beautiful sand-colour linen/cotton blend, featuring a 1cm sewn border around the edge. Seams and zipper are machine sewn. All cushions are hand-made, and hand stitched graphics. They measure 45cm square."
Can you believe she hand stitches this? Of course it's always the first one to go.
As I mentioned earlier we kind of have a strong animal presence in the shop, below is a little sample of some bamboo clocks that are just too cute for their own good.
and of course this very Nordic cuckoo clock which appears in the Nov/Dec issue of Inside Out Mag.

To top it all off I got to hang out at the BMX track this afternoon, just me, the boys, the dog and my Saltwater sandals! Which by the way we have in store now for all kids and adults who want to tear up the town this summer.
I love an "Afghan". My old business partner Tricky gave me license to use that term, she's from Canadia (yes I know it's spelt incorrectly). We Aussies refer to them as Nana rugs or the good old crochet blanket. We have a few left in store and I find it difficult to part with each one as no two are the same and so much time and love goes in to them. No I didn't crochet them. Nana did.
We also love our forest friends here at Neck of the Woods and there are a few that feature very strongly in store. I found a secret macrame Queen who lives in rural Victoria. She is a wizard and the owls have been more popular than any of us could imagine.
That's a beautiful Pacific Centred world map printed on canvas in the background. It's stylish muted tones make it perfect for any interior. It measures an impressive 1.75 x 1.2m. The little vintage bottles are from a deceased estate, apparently there was literally a tonne on them, they vary in colour and size but are perfect for that stray little dandelion.
Have a sweet long weekend. Might see you at the shop x

here we go...
My first post as Neck of the Woods and I find myself tapping the keys with nothing to say. Maybe I'll begin with the past!
We opened Neck of the Woods six months ago under the name Pulp Life. We owned a second store Pulp Creative Paper and Pulp Life was an off shoot to sell all of the amazing home wares we found that just didn't fit into our stationery store. Confused?
My business partner had to move interstate and with two shops and two small boys, something had to give. We decided to sell Pulp Creative Paper, so we had to change the name of Pulp Life hence, Neck of the Woods was born. Of course the story is much longer than that.
It's funny you know, almost seven years ago when we started Pulp, I had a dreamy kind of idea that I'd like to open a lifestyle store one day. Some would call it a gift store but I always feel the word "gift" conjours up images of crystal, silver and fake flowers. We're a little more organic, 70's vintage and handmade.
My main reason for this blog is to keep our customers up to date with what's new in store and on the streets. So come check out our Neck of the Woods.
The pics above and below are thanks to two of my favourite customers, Hayley Blease from Little Pinwheel and Anna from Rummy Bears
